The Me 262B-1a was basically a double-seater for flightschool purpose. After first success against Mosquitos by night with single-seater Me 262s with the "Wilde Sau" tactics, the Me 262B-1a were equipped with the "Lichtenstein" SN-2 radar device and antennas.
This "improvisation" of the Me 262B-1a lead to the B-2, the final nighfighter version, but only 2 planes were built. The nightfighter was not very reliable, and mostly the crews avoided flying it when ever possible.
